Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Staple for Riding in BC This shell is a no brainer for riding in BC. So easy to pack and doesn't restrict movement on the bike. And best of all, the hood will go over your helmet no problem if conditions really get .... moist ;-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Test winner and awarded design! This Jacket is a thrill for us. Just been in the market for a few months and already been included with BackPackers gear guide, winning the "Light shell jacket test" in Aktiv trening and received the "Award for Design Excellence" from the Norwegian Design Council. Big thanks to the Design and development team here at Helly for making this nice piece. The Jacket has been my favorite piece for any activity where weight is a focus. Great for ski mountaineering as well as hikes and in the summertime. Takes up next to no space in my pack and still delivers the essential weather protection thanks to the longer cut and fully functional hood. Comes highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate Lightweight Alpine Shell I have used the Fastpack in a variety of conditions over the last several seasons & am convinced it is one of the best lightweight, technical shells on the market. Two very large alpine pockets stowe & vent. The jacket packs down small & weighs next to nothing, and in a 2.5 layer build you have all the weather protection you need. I am 5'10, 135 lbs & the fit a size medium. I would size up if you expect to utilize thicker layers under the Fastpack. The Fastpack really is a take anywhere to do anything piece.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lightweight for Light-weather The Odin FastPack Jacket is the first Helly garment I've owned. I'm now wrapping up my first season working for Mountain Madness here in the Pacific Northwest. It has been an awesome season filled with climbing, schwacking, traveling, and the fast pack has been my go-to jacket for all of it. That being said I've had a good amount of time to create a well rounded opinion of this jackets performace in a diversity of conditions Pros: The Fastpack is insanely light and packable...as it's name implies, but was far more protective from the elements than I had anticipated. That being said it really only seems appropriate for use in light weather on shorter trips. It has also proven to be more durable than you'd think. Cons: One of the most obvious issues is that myself and a few other guides have had issues with some of the velcro stitching ripping off, it seems to be an inconsistent issue though. I'm not a huge fan of the giant torso vents, they make the jacket feel over-designed and make you much more vulnerable to the weather if a zipper were to break during a trip. Also as implied before, this is not a jacket for serious weather, although it would certainly be better than nothing in an emergency; if you're looking at more than a light rain or snow, you'll be getting wet. Overall I think the Fastpack is an innovative product that shines in the shoulder seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A new favourite jacket This jacket is so light that you don't have to think twice to bring it in your back pack as a water proof back up on a nice summer- or sprin day in the mountains where you just wear a light windshirt or softshell. But it also fits really good when worn and so far seems to stand the test i harsh Norwegian weather conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight Protection I am a mountain guide for Mountain Madness, a Seattle, WA based guide service. Mountain Madness is a partner with Helly Hansen and we are outfitted exclusively with Helly Hansen products. I guide alpine climbs, international high altitude expeditions, ski mountaineering, avalanche courses and rock climbing. I have used the Odin Fastpack Jacket in pursuing every mountain discipline from rock climbing to skiing. My first experience with the Fastpack Jacket was using it on a multi-pitch alpine rock climb as part of a photo shoot in the North Cascades. This particular climb involves climbing some wide cracks which are notorious for chewing up clothing and spitting out the shreds. I was pleasantly surprised when I topped out on that climb and the jacket did not have a scratch on it - just a bit of blood from my knuckles from jamming the off-width crack. I have gone on to use the Fastpack Jacket on Aconcagua, the high peaks of Ecuador and back home in the Pacific Northwest anytime I need a piece to keep me dry if a squall of precipitation rolls through. This jacket is amazingly light - believe the hype - and is paper thin. That being said, this is not the jacket I would grab for extended, driving rain. For extremely poor weather look instead towards the Odin Superstretch or Traverse Jacket. However, when going as light as possible is essential for the send, yet precipitation cannot be ruled out, the Odin Fastpack Jacket should be a top choice to take up precious little space in the top of your pack.
